Martin County commissioners on Tuesday heard from engineering consultant Bob Mickelson of ISG regarding a feasibility study of the Courthouse dome.
The dome has seen wear and tear over the years, and water leaking has been an issue.
The report covered potential aspects such as replacing the copper dome, clock restoration, structural and electrical work, and even mural restoration for the artwork.
The estimated project cost is $1.9 million.
Commissioner Kathy Smith said the work would be a major project, likely requiring grant dollars to cover the full extent of repairs.
Commissioners took no action except choosing to receive and file the report.
The board approved and will allow the 4-H office move to the Martin County Fairgrounds pending review and approval of office space lease agreement and board signature.
Commissioners recognized Dan Schmidtke for his 17 years plus service of serving Martin County’s District 4 constituents and county staff.
The board also recognized Dan Whitman, County Assessor, for his 20 years of service to the citizens of Martin County.
