Albion Avenue will be closed from Lake Aires Road (80th Street) to Interlaken Road for road construction. The construction is expected to begin July 10th and the road will be closed through the month of July (weather dependent). The City’s contractor will be resurfacing and widening this section of road. The Martin County Board on Tuesday recognized Jim Foreshee for his 16 plus years of service to the citizens of Martin County and serving as Auditor Treasurer from Jan. 1, 2003 through July 5,2019. Everyone is invited to come out for the Martin County Relay for Life on Saturday at the Martin County Fairgrounds, Fairmont. Survivor registration is from 3-6:55 p.m. in the hockey arena. The Fairmont City Council spent a lengthy amount of time in a closed session Monday to evaluate the job performance of City Administrator Mike Humpal. Councilman Randy Lubenow had pushed to adjust the agenda to include a summary of the evaluation and a resolution immediately after the closed session. Lubenow had asked that the results of Humpal’s evaluation be made public immediately, instead of following the council’s longtime practice of waiting until the next regular meeting. STEVE CHASE, A FAIRMONT NATIVE AND VIETNAM VETERAN OF SEVERAL TOURS OF DUTY THERE, WAS ONE OF THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING IT HERE FROM CALIFORNIA FOR THE MARTIN COUNTY VETERAN'S MEMORIAL COMMITTEE.
