A Fairmont woman was injured and several properties were damaged in a one-vehicle incident on the afternoon of December 26th. 65 year-old Jerene Ann Zwaschka of Fairmont was taken by EMS to Mayo Clinic Health System Fairmont for treatment of possible injuries after the car she was driving struck several objects in the 900 block of Albion Avenue. A passenger in the vehicle, 68 year-old Paul Zwaschka of Fairmont, was not injured. MDA Announces Additional Farmland Succession Support

St. Paul, MN: Farmers and agricultural landowners looking for assistance in creating succession plans for their properties have a new support available through the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA). The MDA has hired Jim Molenaar as its farmland access and succession teams coordinator. In this newly created role, Molenaar will advocate for and guide farmers and ag landowners through the succession process, bringing in additional outside team members that are necessary for success. Fairmont Area Schools Auction Off Hunt Farm Land

An auction for farm land which has been owned by the Fairmont Area School District since being donated to the district by the Hunt Family in 1990 was held Thursday morning. A 38 acre tract of land north of Interstate 90 sold for $525,228, or $13,800 per acre. A 78 acre parcel south of the Interstate sold for a price of $770,913, or $9,900 an acre. The Fairmont Area Schools will use the proceeds, grossing $1,296,141, to add to the Hunt Farm Trust Fund, which is used for scholarships and educational enhancement opportunities. Man Killed In Landslide At Mankato Park

A 19-year-old man became trapped and died as a result of a landslide at a state park in southern Minnesota. The Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office received a call Saturday afternoon of a landslide trapping someone under collapsed earth at the falls area of Minneopa State Park, near Mankato. Emergency workers recovered the man, whom they found dead. The sheriff’s office, which called the death accidental in a press release, is investigating. Minneopa State Park is one of Minnesota’s oldest state parks, and contains waterfalls and a bison herd, according to the state Department of Natural Resources.

A dispute at the McDonald's drive-thru in Fairmont on Thanksgiving Day resulted in an injury to a Truman man. At 9:55 a.m. Thursday morning, Fairmont Police responded to the report of an incident outside the McDonald's building.
