An auction for farm land which has been owned by the Fairmont Area School District since being donated to the district by the Hunt Family in 1990 was held Thursday morning.

A 38 acre tract of land north of Interstate 90 sold for $525,228, or $13,800 per acre. A 78 acre parcel south of the Interstate sold for a price of $770,913, or $9,900 an acre.

The Fairmont Area Schools will use the proceeds, grossing $1,296,141, to add to the Hunt Farm Trust Fund, which is used for scholarships and educational enhancement opportunities.

The auction was conducted by Land Services Unlimited/Auctioneer Alley.
