The Fairmont City Council has begun employment discussions with Cathleen Reynolds to be the next City Administrator. Ms. Reynolds is an experienced public administration professional with a proven record of leadership, change management and strategic planning, combined with a background in law. Most recently she served as the Operations Manager of the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District in Minnetonka, Minnesota from March 2018 to February 2020. Her work experience includes serving as the Court Services Manager for the Escambia, Florida County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller and as an attorney in the Office of the General Counsel for the United States Department of Energy. Ms. Reynolds’ career includes active service with the United States Marine Corps as well as positions as the Chief of Staff for the USMC Executive Training Program in Quantico, Virginian, Adjutant/Executive Officer at Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti, Africa and as an attorney at Camp Pendleton in California.

Ms. Reynolds holds a law degree from the University of Denver, College of Law and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Colorado State University. She is a member of the International City/County Management Association and the Minnesota City/County Management Association.

Ms. Reynolds was selected unanimously by the City Council to be Fairmont’s next City Administrator following the completion of candidate interviews held on May 4. The City Council’s consideration of an employment agreement is anticipated at the regular May 11 City Council meeting.
