A Fairmont woman was injured and several properties were damaged in a one-vehicle incident on the afternoon of December 26th. 65 year-old Jerene Ann Zwaschka of Fairmont was taken by EMS to Mayo Clinic Health System Fairmont for treatment of possible injuries after the car she was driving struck several objects in the 900 block of Albion Avenue. A passenger in the vehicle, 68 year-old Paul Zwaschka of Fairmont, was not injured.

A fire hydrant and crosswalk sign were destroyed and a concrete block retaining wall was damaged before the vehicle came to a stop after hitting a home at 918 Albion Avenue. The home, owned by Dawn Looft, was heavily damaged in the front wall and window areas. No one inside the house was injured.

It is suspected that a medical condition may have contributed to the driver becoming briefly incapacitated.
