Two area men were injured in a two-vehicle accident on State Highway 15 near Lewisville on Tuesday morning.

At 10:45 am emergency personnel responded to the report of an accident at the intersection of Highway 15 and 390th Street, on the south edge of Lewisville. A 2003 Jeep Cherokee driven by Jacob William Mohwinkel, 31, of Truman, was northbound on Highway 15 when it collided with a 2007 Peterbilt Semi driven southbound by Armano Magana Mendoza, 41, of Granada. Mohwinkel was taken to Mayo Clinic Health System of Mankato with what the Highway Patrol report termed non-life threatening injuries. Mendoza was transported to the St. James Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The Patrol report stated alcohol was involved in Mohwinkel’s vehicle. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office, Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Lewisville Fire,  and Truman Ambulance all responded to the incident.
