Residents of Blue Earth, Nicollet, Sibley, Martin, and Faribault counties should take heed, as the U.S. Drought Monitor has issued a moderate drought warning in these areas. Conditions have deteriorated from last week, when the monitor reported abnormal dryness in the region.

The entire state of Minnesota now exhibits at least abnormally dry or moderate drought conditions, with severe drought afflicting counties in the metropolitan area and surrounding it

Those living in affected counties should prepare for the possibility of less rain in the near future. Residents should also take to conserving water where possible and be mindful of crops that may be affected by the drought.
