A man from Estherville has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses after an alleged shooting early yesterday.
Police were called to the 600 block of South 12th Street at around 3 a.m. for a reported assault. According to authorities, the suspect, identified as 47-year-old Grant Richard Dale, was involved in an argument with a relative. As the altercation escalated, Dale reportedly asked the relative to leave the residence. However, things took a dangerous turn when, as the relative was leaving, Dale allegedly fired his rifle.
Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident. Following the altercation, Dale was taken into custody and is facing two felony charges as well as a simple misdemeanor in relation to the shooting.
He is currently being held at the Emmet County Jail and is awaiting a first appearance hearing. This is a developing story and police are continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Estherville Police Department.
