THE FAIRMONT CITY COUNCIL ON MONDAY APPROVED A MEMORANDUM OF UNDER STANDING WITH THE FAIRMONT AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT ON A 3 YEAR AGREEMENT FOR A SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER.
THE COUNCIL, ALSO APPROVED AN UPDATED ENGINEERING SERVICES CONTRACT WITH BARR ENGINEERING FOR LIME POND CLOSURE PLANS, SPECS AND CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION.
THE COUNCIL VOTED TO DENY THE SALE OF PROPERTY AT 512 N. ELM STREET TO HABITAT FPOR HUMANITY FOR NOW. THE CITY ACQUIRED THE PROPERTY ON TAX FORFEITURE. THE CITY RAZED THE HOUSE ON THE LOT AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINING SIDEWALKS. HABITAT IS INTERESTED IN MOVING A HOUSE TO THAT EMPTY LOT. AFTER A PUBLIC HEARING , LOWELL ABELSON OF 522 N. ELM STREET CONTACTED THE CITY AND EXPRESSED AN INTEREST IN PURCHASING THE LOT. COUNCILORS BRUCE PETERS,WAYNE HASEK AND RANDY LUBENOW VOTED AGAINST THE SALE TO HABITAT UNTIL THE SITUATION WAS FURTHER DISCUSSED.
THE FAIRMONT CITY COUNCIL APPROVED BIDS FOR THE FAIRMONT MUNICIPAL AIRPORT HANGAR TAXILANES AND APRON
IMPROVEMENT PROJECT FROM M.R.PAVING OF NEW ULM WITH THE LOW BID OF $370,271. THE ENGINEER’S ESTIMATE WAS $396,037. THE APPROVAL IS CONTINGENT ON THE CITY RECEIVING A FEDERAL GRANT.
