To protect the health and safety of the community and our employees, and help
minimize the potential spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the City is implementing
temporary changes to City operations effective 8:00 AM on Wednesday, March 18.
The changes to operations will be in place through the end of March or until further
notice.
The decision to make these changes was made after much deliberation and in response to
local, state and federal agencies directions to reduce community spread.
We are sympathetic to the concerns of the public and we are constantly evaluating how we will
provide government services. Our goal is to remain responsive to the community’s needs and to
ensure the safety, security, health and wellbeing for all in Fairmont.
The temporary changes to City operations are as follows:
City Facilities
a All City facilities, except the Liquor Store, will be closed to the public. However, City
operations will continue with staff available to provide services and answer questions by phone
(507-238-9461) and email (cityoffairmont@fairmont.org). The Liquor Store will continue to be
open to the public during its regular hours of operation at this time.
City Services
D All services requiring in-person visits or public counter assistance will be handled by phone
(507-238-9461), email (cityoffairmont@fairmont.org) and in certain circumstances in-person
(appointment only).
City Meetings
D City Council meetings scheduled in March will take place as planned. As an alternative to
attending in person, members of the public can view a live stream of the meeting by visiting the
City’s website at www.fairmont.om. All Boards and Commission meetings will not be meeting
unless there is an immediate need until further notice.
The City will continue to keep residents informed with updates to the City website at
www.fairmont.org as information becomes available.
