THE FAIRMONT AREA SCHOOL BOARD TUESDAY APPROVED THE REVISED 2020-21 SCHOOL CALENDAR AND A LEASE AGREEMENT FOR THE GYMNASTICS PROGRAM. THE BOARD ACTED ON A PROPOSAL TO ENTER A 5 YEAR LEASE WITH “LIVE FIT” OF FAIRMONT AT A RENTAL RATE OF $6,000/MONTH AND THEY HAVE APPROVED MOVING FORWARD. THE COST WILL BE SPLIT 50/50 WITH THE MARTIN COUNTY WEST SCHOOL DISTRICT WHO SHARES THE GYMNASTIC PROGRAM WITH FAIRMONT. MARTIN COUNTY WEST PLANS TO CLOSE IT’S WELCOME SCHOOL BUILDING THAT CURRENTLY HOUSES THE GYMNASTICS EQUIPMENT.
THE FAIRMONT SCHOOL BOARD ALSO APPROVED EASEMENT AGREEMENTS WITH MINNESOTA ENERGY RESOURCES FOR ABOVE GROUND GAS LINES AT BOTH FAIRMONT JUNIOR SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL AND FAIRMONT ELEMENTARY. THE SCHOOL DISTRICT WILL RECEIVE A TOTAL OF $15,000 DOLLARS FOR THOSE EASEMENTS.
THE BOARD APPROVED A COUPLE OF MEDICAL LEAVE REQUESTS AND ONE LEAVE OF ABSENCE. BOARD MEMBER JULIE LAUE SPOKE FOR THE REST OF THE BOARD WHEN SHE SAID SUPT. JOE BROWN WAS GIVEN A MOST FAVORABLE EVALUATION FOR HIS WORK THIS PAST YEAR FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.
