FAIRMONT AREA SCHOOLS SUPERINTENDENT JOE BROWN SUBMITTED HIS RESIGNATION TO THE SCHOOL BOARD EFFECTIVE JULY 31ST, 2021. BROWN HAS ACCEPTED A TEMPORARY SUPERINTENDENT POSITION AT A SCHOOL DISTRICT NEAR TO HIS HOMETOWN OF CLINTON, IOWA, WHERE HE PLANS TO EVENTUALLY RETIRE. BROWN HAS BEEN THE SUPERINTENDENT OF THE FAIRMONT AREA SCHOOLS SINCE 2010.
IN COMING DAYS, THE SCHOOL BOARD WILL BE TAKING ACTION TO FIND EITHER AN INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT FOR THE COMING YEAR OR A PERMANENT REPLACEMENT.
THE BOARD LAST NIGHT ALSO SET ACTIVITY FEES, ADMISSION PRICES TO SPORTING EVENTS, AND MEAL PRICES FOR THE COMING YEAR. ALL ARE UNCHANGED FROM THE LAST TWO YEARS.
DONATIONS OF $11,000 FROM 3M FAIRMONT, TO BE USED FOR STEM PROGRAMS, AND AN AIR-OPERATED METAL PRESS VALUED AT $9,000 FROM KAHLER AUTOMATION, WHICH WILL BE USED FOR WELDING AND AUTOMOTIVE CLASSES, WERE ALSO GRATEFULLY ACCCEPTED.
