A 54 year-old Windom man was killed and a 15 year-old Windom girl is in serious condition after a Monday afternoon accident on Highway 62 west of Windom.

A Ford F350 was traveling westbound on Highway 62 when it collided with a Pontiac Vibe that was also westbound, slowing for an intersection. Both occupants of the Pontiac were transported by ground ambulance to Sanford Health Windom where the passenger, Henry Ngisa Nyandwaki,  succumbed to his injuries. The 15 year-old driver of the Pontiac, Elizabeth Matete Ngisathe, was listed as having life threatening injuries by the State Patrol report.

The driver of the Ford F350, Scott Craig Runck, 37, of Avoca, was transported to Sanford Worthington hospital with what was believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. The incident, reported at 12:30 p.m. Monday, was responded to by Cottonwood, Jackson, and Nobles County Sheriffs Offices, Windom Police, Fire, & Ambulance, Heron Lake Police & Fire, and Westbrook Fire Department.
