Fairmont Ward 3 City Council Representative Deb Foster announced her resignation from the position at the end of Monday night’s City Council meeting. Foster cited health reasons as she stated she was moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to be closer to family. Her resignation will be effective March 2nd.
Foster served as Mayor of Fairmont for almost six years, being appointed after the death of Randy Quiring, then being elected to the post for a four-year term in 2018. Foster chose to leave the Mayor’s office and run for City Council Ward 3 this past fall. She defeated incumbent Randy Lubenow 373-341 to win the position.
Mayor Lee Baarts said that they will discuss filling the Ward 3 seat in the future.
