On Tuesday, Martin County Commissioners approved a second round of County CARES Act Small Business Grants on Tuesday. The board had allocated $750,000 for small businesses within Martin County. After the first round of grant awards, there was approximately $382,376 remaining of the funds. After the second round, $28,716 remains. Businesses that qualify are eligible for up to $10,000

Commissioners pproved changing the time of the regular County Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, December 1, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to more closely meet with the scheduled 2020 Truth in Taxation Hearing which is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.

The board Tuesday was presented with the fact that there is a proposed reduction of $76,356 due to heath insurance adjustments which equates to a 2.81% levy increase $480,669 over the adopted levy for next year. This new decrease will be reviewed as part of the Truth in Taxation Hearing on Dec. 1. Commissioners had approved a preliminary levy increase of 3.26% in September but could be decreased before final approval is given next month.

Approvedthe hire of Skylar Meyer for a temporary full time Corrections Officer Position with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, effective November 17, 2020.

Approvedthe hire of Cory Lyons for a part time Patrol Deputy Position with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, effective November 20, 2020.

Approved Board Chair to sign resolution for approval of Sheriff’s Deputy to be included as a member of the Public Employees Police and Fire Plan.

Approved Board Chair to sign Change Order #5 with Robert W. Carlstrom Co. Inc. in the amount of $3,034.50 for Sanitary Pipe Replacement Plumbing Plan Review at the new Garage Storage Facility.

Approved the re-appointment of Tim Terfehr and Wes Anderson to serve a second three-year term on the Martin County Economic Development Authority, effective January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2023.
