FAIRMONT– Fairmont City Administrator Cathy Reynolds announced her resignation on Tuesday. Reynolds has been with the city for nearly three years.

In a statement released Tuesday, Reynolds said “There are so many opportunities in Fairmont and the city has great staff working for it in the best interest of the community. Leaving Fairmont has been a challenging decision. I’ve become the scapegoat for a lot of the instability and in order to help the community progress and move forward, I have made the decision to leave.”

Discussion on next steps will be held at the next Fairmont City Council meeting on April 24.

She was hired to fill the position following the termination of Mike Humpal in November 2019. Reynolds was hired as Fairmont’s city administrator in May of 2020.
