THE FAIRMONT AREA SCHOOL BOARD TUESDAY APPROVED THE PRELIMINARY 2020-21 BUDGET. ACCORDING TO FINANCE DIRECTOR CHRIS MUHVICH THE DISTRICT WILL HAVE REVENUES DOWN APPROXIMATLEY$140,000. EXPENSES DOWN $207,00. TOTAL BUDGET DOWN $195,000 FOR THE COMING YEAR. MUHVICH SAID THE DISTRICT EXPECT TO RECEIVE SOME FUNDS FROM CARES ACT FOR COVID PANDEMIC COST BUT DIDN’T KNOW WHEN.
THE BOARD APPROVED AN AMENDED 2019-20 SCHOOL CALENDAR. THE CALENDAR SHOWED A 10 DAY REDUCTION IN STUDENT CONTACT DAYS.THIS INCLUDED 2 SNOW DAYS AND AND 8 ADDITIONAL TEACHER WORKSHOP DAYS REQUIRED DUE TO COVID-19 SHUTDOWN.
THE BOARD RECEIVED THREE APPLICATIONS FROM STUDENTS INTERESTED IN SERVING ON THE SCHOOL BOARD . MORGAN HOONG AND WESTON LOUGHMILLER ,SENIORS,WOULD BE NAMED STUDENT BOARD MEMBERS AND JUNIOR BRIANA JOSEPH WOULD SERVE AS AN ALTERNATE.
