The Local Public Health Association of Minnesota announced Monday that Chera Sevcik, executive director and community health services administrator at Faribault and Martin County Health and Human Services, is the recipient of the 2020 LPHA Emerging Leader Award.

The annual award recognizes emerging local public health leaders who go above and beyond to move public health work forward. The LPHA says Sevcik was selected based on her leadership in public health at the state and local levels.

“Chera’s advocacy for public health, representation of local public health on various groups at the local and state level, willingness to mentor new public health staff and leaders, and efforts to convene leaders within her region exemplifies the spirit of this award,” stated LPHA Chair Richard Scott, who also serves as public health division director at Carver County Public Health.

Sevcik has worked to develop relationships across Minnesota to advance the work of public health and services on several statewide and community workgroups and boards.
