Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride is sitting atop the WNBA record books after a blazing performance on Sunday. The five-time All-Star drained ten three-pointers against the Dallas Wings to set the league’s single-game record in the Lynx 103-90 victory. McBride finished with a career-high and franchise record 43 points as Minnesota became the first team to clinch a playoff berth with the win.
The Brewers walked off with a 4-3 victory over the Twins in 10 innings to capture their rubber match in Milwaukee. Jacob Misiorowski got the start and struck out nine over six innings. Jake Bauer went two for three with a solo homer and the game-winning single. Milwaukee has won five of its last six games. Yoendrys Gomez was saddled with the loss after allowing an unearned run on one hit and a walk for Minnesota, which has dropped back to back games. The Twins start a three-game series back at Target Field tonight against Baltimore.
Ty Gibbs secured a close win in the Iowa Corn 350 on Sunday. The driver of the Number-54 car held off Christopher Bell by a quarter-of-a-second to take home the checkered flag at Iowa Speedway for his second career victory. Ryan Blaney, Josh Berry and Denny Hamlin rounded out the top-five finishers.
The Vikings are pleased with what they have under center. According to ESPN, head coach Kevin O’Connell said veteran quarterback Kyler Murray is farther along in his mental grasp of the system than he expected. Minnesota kicks off the preseason on Saturday when it visits the New York Giants.
Larry Fitzgerald’s Hall of Fame speech focused on honoring Minneapolis, the Vikings and his family. Fitzgerald joined the Hall’s Class of 2026 during Saturday’s induction ceremony. His oldest son presented him in a recorded video and helped unveil his bronze bust. Fitzgerald recalled playing at Martin Luther King Park in Minneapolis and working as a Vikings ballboy under Dennis Green. He thanked Cris Carter and Randy Moss for helping shape his life and honored his late parents, including his father, longtime Twin Cities sportswriter Larry Fitzgerald Sr., who died on June 1st.
