The Twins put an end to their losing streak following a 10-6 victory over the Guardians in Cleveland. Brooks Lee led the way at the plate after going two for five with a three-run homer and four RBIs. Trevor Larnach also went deep with a solo blast and three RBIs. Minnesota snapped its four-game skid. Slade Cecconi was charged with the loss after allowing seven runs, three of them earned, on seven hits and three walks. Cleveland had won two in a row.
The Lynx continue to roll after topping the Storm 86-76 in Seattle. Napheesa Collier led all scorers with 24 points in her season debut. Minnesota has won seven straight entering the All-Star break and will host the Toronto Tempo on Tuesday at Target Center.
The 3M Open is underway. This week’s PGA Tour event is taking place at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, north of Minneapolis. Last year’s winner was Kurt Kitayama and he’s back in the fold this year. World number one Scottie Scheffler is also in the field.
Minnesota United FC fell to Sporting Kansas City 2-1 on the road. Devin Padelford scored the only goal of the game for the Loons. Minnesota remains at 22 points and will host the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday at Allianz Field.
Wolves All-Star Anthony Edwards is now married. Minnesota records show the hoop standout tied the knot with his longtime partner Shannon Jackson on July 16th. The couple has a young daughter. Edwards is entering his seventh season in Minnesota this fall.
