The Twins topped the Athletics 11-8 to win their series at Target Field. Ryan Jeffers led the way at the dish after going three for five with three runs batted in. Minnesota has won four of its last five and will host the Kansas City Royals for a three-game set that starts tomorrow. Pre-game begins at 6 p.m. on KSUM.
Team Spoon took down Team Coop 129-122 in the WNBA All-Star Game. Olivia Miles recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 assists, while Courtney Williams scored 12 points off the bench for Team Spoon. Natasha Howard chipped in with eight points for Team Coop. The Lynx return to the hardwood when they host the Toronto Tempo tomorrow at Target Center.
Minnesota United FC played the Vancouver Whitecaps to a scoreless draw at Allianz Field. Drake Callender stopped all five of the shots he faced on goal. The Black and Blue have earned at least a point in two of their last three and will host San Diego FC on Saturday.
Jackson Koivun collected his first career Tour win after finishing atop the leaderboard at the 3M Open from TPC Twin Cities. Koivun won the tournament by three strokes at 25 under par in just his third professional start. The 21-year-old is the youngest player to win on Tour this season. Scottie Scheffler finished second at 22 under. Hideki Matsuyama, Brian Harman, Denny McCarthy and Chandler Phillips tied for third at 20 under par.
Longtime Gopher baseball coach John Anderson is dead. He passed way yesterday after he was hospitalized for suffering a heart attack on Wednesday while at home. Anderson retired in 2024 after 43 seasons as head coach. He ranks first in Big Ten history with wins. Anderson has led the Gophers to 19 NCAA Tournament appearances, won several conference titles. Minnesota reached the program’s first NCAA Super Regional in 2018. Anderson was 71.
