Fairmont High School Robotics/The MegaHertz - Team 2847 competed in a field of 55 teams from Minnesota and Wisconsin in the Lake Superior Regional Robotics Competition in Duluth Feb. 28th through March 2nd. Team 2847 finished qualification rounds on Saturday with a 6-2 record and a rank of 8th among the 55 teams participating. A large fire that burned hundreds of acres northeast of Waseca is now under control. The fire reportedly started before noon Sunday northeast of Waseca near 383rd Avenue along the Snake Trail. Gusty winds fueled the blaze, which spread quickly.  Fire departments across the area responded. The Waseca County Pioneer reports that at least two homes caught flames and one homeowner was hospitalized for burns.

North Mankato - An Easton man has been sentenced to jail time and probation for threatening store workers at a local store in September. The incident occurred after the man, identified as 63 year old Steven Scott Gray, disputed charges on his account at the store. According to court documents, Gray initially faced a felony threats of violence charge but pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of misdemeanor disorderly conduct last week in Nicollet County District Court. BURNSVILLE- The Burnsville Community comes together today for the public memorial for the three first responders that died in a standoff earlier this month. The joint public service will honor the lives of Police Officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge and Paramedic Adam Finseth. City buildings including City Hall, the Maintenance facility and multiple police and fire stations will be closed in observation of the memorial. The public memorial will begin at 11 a.m. at Grace Church The three first responders were killed in the line of duty back on February 18th during a standoff after reports of a domestic incident. EVERLY- Two juveniles are facing charges after a pickup crashed into two parked vehicles earlier this month in Everly. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says the accident occurred around 10 pm on February 10th in Everly. After the initial investigation, it was determined a juvenile female had been driving southbound when a juvenile passenger under the influence of alcohol, grabbed the steering wheel and stepped on the gas. The vehicle traveled southbound at a high rate of speed, ran a stop sign, and collided with a parked vehicle, which was pushed forward into the rear of another. The juvenile females fled [...]

SPIRIT LAKE-Dickinson County authorities are currently investigating a shooting that took place on Tuesday afternoon. According to reports, the incident occurred around 3:30pm at an address northwest of Montgomery. The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office, along with other law enforcement agencies, responded to the scene of the shooting. S hortly after the incident, Lakes Regional Healthcare stated on its Facebook page that they had received a patient with a gunshot wound. However, they also clarified that the shooting did not happen on their premises. As a precautionary measure, the hospital initiated a lockdown to ensure the safety of their patients and staff. [...]
