Two people from Truman have been arrested in connection with multiple burglary investigations in Northern Iowa. The Emmetsburg Police Department responded to a burglary at the Go Gutters Business in late August. As part of a joint investigation with the Truman Police Department, officials searched a home in the city of Truman. Authorities found several of the items reported missing from Go Gutters along with other items linked to separate reported burglaries in the city of Emmetsburg. Brad Wells, of Granada in southern Minnesota, has been named the 2018 firearms safety volunteer instructor of the year, by the Department of Natural Resources. A retired teacher and the assistant coach of his local high school clay target league team, Wells has been the lead firearms safety instructor in his area for the past 18 years. He’s been a firearms safety instructor for more than 20 years. Southern Minnesota residents have one of the best advocates for schools serving them in the Minnesota Senate. State Senator Julie Rosen  has been named 2019 Legislator of Distinction by the Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA). The organization honored Sen. Rosen with the award because of her support for local decision-making authority and her advocacy for stronger youth mental health support. This is the second consecutive year Sen. CORN PLUS SHUT DOWN

The Corn Plus Ethanol Plant in Winnebago will be going into what company officials are calling a “cold idle.” Employees of the plant were notified of the decision on Tuesday and a member of the plant’s Board of Directors confirmed the decision on Wednesday. City Officials from Winnebago met Wednesday afternoon with officials from the plant. The plant employs about 2 dozen people, some of the are expected to be laid off next week.
