THE FAIRMONT FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS DISPATCHED TO A BARN FIRE JUST WEST OF FAIRMONT TUESDAY NIGHT JUST AFTER 9 PM. FAIRMONT FIRE CHIEF BRANDON SCOTT SAID A SMALL BARN CONTAINING A COW AND CALF WAS ON FIRE AT THE LOUIE AND MARGARET BULFER FARM. THE BARN WAS A TOTAL LOSS AND AND THE TWO BOVINES DIED IN THE BLAZE. IT WAS SUSPECTED THAT A HEAT LAMP IN THE STRUCTURE GOT KNOCKED OVER. ESTIMATED DAMAGE WAS $7,500 DOLLARS ACCORDING TO CHIEF SCOTT, WHO SAID NO FIREFIGHTERS WERE FROSTBITTEN OR OTHERWISE INJURED. THEY WERE ON SCENE ABOUT TWO HOURS IN -24 DEGREE TEMPERATURE AND -67 DEGREE WIND CHILL ON TUESDAY NIGHT.
