SCHEDULE CHANGES

The Section 3AA individual wrestling tournament will add an extra round to tonight’s schedule in New Ulm in order to shorten Saturday’s action to avert the impending windy weather.

Tonight’s wrestling action kicks off at 5 p.m., while the championship semifinals will open Saturday’s action at 10 a.m.

The Fairmont/Martin County West Red Bulls will send eight state-ranked grapplers to the mat during the two-day state-qualifying event in New Ulm.

Section 2AA wrestling to start an hour early tonight, Saturday

Action in the Section 2AA individual wrestling tournament in Blue Earth will start one hour earlier both tonight and Saturday due to the impending wintry weather.

Wrestling starts at 4:30 p.m. today with the first round featuring the pigtail matches, followed by the quarterfinals in second-round action and the consolation preliminaries in the third heat.

The championship semifinals and the consolation quarterfinals will be added to tonight’s schedule in Blue Earth to close out the action.

Saturday’s action will start with the semifinal losers against the consolation winners, followed by the fifth- and third-place matches and championships. Any true-second matches for state bids will cap Saturday’s action.

MCW-Windom 3AA basketball playoff game’s tip changed.

The No. 4-seeded Martin County West Mavericks girls basketball team’s Section 3AA, South Sub-Section quarterfinal game against No. 5-seeded Windom Area will tip off at noon Saturday in Trimont.

Due to the impending wintry weather Saturday night, the original starting time of 7 p.m. was changed as a safety measure.

Fairmont basketball starting time changed.

The Fairmont Cardinals boys basketball team’s regular-season game against the Trojans will tip off at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Worthington.

The game, originally rescheduled for 7:30 p.m., was moved to avoid any potential travel problems to the impending weather.
