The Fairmont School Board on Tuesday made more changes in their administrative staff for the coming school year. They approved the employment of current high school principal Kim Niss, as principal of curriculum, instruction and research for grades E-12 for the 2019-20 school year. The board approved the employment of Alex Schmidt and Jake Tietje to serve as co-principals at the Fairmont High School next school year. Both Schmidt and Tietje are past graduates of Fairmont High School. One Fairmont City Council member cast a no vote on Monday against the 2019 street improvement program to protest the omission of Lake Avenue from the list of roadways scheduled for repairs. After a search process that took 66 days to complete, the Blue Earth Area School District has a new Superintendent. On a unanimous vote, the Board approved the hiring of Mandy Fletcher; Fletcher accepted the offer from the District. The next step in the process will have the Board Chairman and the South Central Services Cooperative negotiate with Fletcher the terms of her contract. The Board is expected to approve the contract at a meeting on April 1st.
