The Martin County West Mavericks boys basketball team got the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Section 3AA, South Sub-Section playoffs. Martin County West will play host to the No. 5-seeded Fairmont Cardinals in a 7 p.m. sub-section quarterfinal game Saturday night in Sherburn. The Fairmont City Council Monday chose to take the next step toward a proposed community center. By a 4-1 vote, the council supported entering into a memorandum of understanding with the YMCA of Albert Lea and Worthington. Martin County commissioners on Tuesday approved a motion to accept the retirement resignation of County Auditor/Treasurer James Forshee who will retire effective July 5.
